Work-based
A temporary residence permit tied to a Polish employer, issued for up to 3 years. Submitted to the Voivodeship Office (Urząd Wojewódzki) competent for the applicant's place of residence, exclusively through the MOS online portal. Main requirements: a valid employment contract (umowa o pracę or umowa zlecenie), remuneration at or above the statutory minimum for the relevant position, registered accommodation in Poland, and valid health insurance. The permit is bound to a single employer — a change of employment requires resubmission.
Study-based
A residence permit for full-time students at accredited Polish higher-education institutions, issued for up to 3 years. Submitted to the Voivodeship Office in the voivodeship where the applicant studies and resides, exclusively through the MOS portal. Main requirements: enrolment at a recognised institution, paid tuition for the current academic year, documented funds sufficient to cover living costs and return to the country of origin, registered accommodation, and valid health insurance. Switching to part-time studies or being removed from the student list constitutes grounds for revocation of the permit.
Family reunification
Łączenie rodziny — a residence permit for spouses, minor children, and dependents of EU citizens or foreigners holding a valid Polish residence permit. Submitted to the Voivodeship Office competent for the applicant's place of residence, exclusively through the MOS portal. The sponsor and the applicant must actually reside within the same voivodeship. Main requirements: documented family relationship (marriage or birth certificate with sworn translation; apostille — where required, depending on the country issuing the document), the sponsor's stable income above the statutory threshold, accommodation suitable for the whole family, and health insurance for each applicant. The permit's validity is tied to the sponsor's status.
Blue Card
Niebieska Karta UE — the EU residence permit for highly qualified specialists, issued for up to 3 years. Submitted to the Voivodeship Office competent for the applicant's place of residence, exclusively through the MOS portal. Main requirements: a higher-education diploma or relevant professional experience (from 3 years for regulated IT specialisations, from 5 years for other professions); an employment contract for at least 6 months; gross remuneration of at least 150% of the average Polish wage (13,355.34 PLN/month in 2026). Since 2025, changing employers and running a JDG in parallel with primary employment are permitted.
Business activity
A residence permit for founders actively running a spółka z o.o. or JDG in Poland, issued for up to 3 years. Submitted to the Voivodeship Office competent for the applicant's place of residence, exclusively through the MOS portal. Main requirements: a genuinely operational company (not classified as dormant), income sufficient to cover tax obligations and living costs, and either employment of Polish residents or revenue above the statutory threshold for the previous fiscal year. Registered accommodation and valid health insurance are mandatory. Dormant entities receive a refusal.
