EU resident card
The standard route to obtaining the long-term EU resident card — a status granting permanent residence in Poland and simplified mobility within the European Union. Available to foreigners who have legally and continuously resided in Poland for at least 5 years on the basis of Polish residence cards (interruptions up to 6 consecutive months and up to 10 months in total are permitted). Submitted online through the MOS portal to the Voivodeship Office of your place of residence. Main requirements: 5 years of continuous legal residence, stable and regular income above the statutory threshold, registered accommodation in Poland, valid health insurance, and confirmed Polish-language proficiency at B1 level (state-exam certificate or document of exemption from the exam).
Family reunification under EU status
Family reunification under simplified procedure for relatives of a long-term EU resident. Available to spouses, minor children, and dependents of a person who already holds long-term EU resident status in Poland or in another EU country and is relocating to Poland. Submitted online through the MOS portal to the Voivodeship Office of the sponsor's place of residence. Main requirements: a valid long-term EU resident card held by the sponsor, documented family relationship (marriage or birth certificate with apostille and sworn translation), stable income of the sponsor above the statutory threshold, accommodation suitable for the family, and health insurance for each family member.
Card renewal
Renewal of the long-term EU resident card whose validity expires after 5 years. The resident status itself is granted indefinitely — only the plastic card as a document is renewed. Filed up to 30 days before the expiry of the current card, but no later than its expiry date. Submitted online through the MOS portal to the Voivodeship Office of your place of residence. Main requirements: a valid or recently expired long-term EU resident card, current registered accommodation in Poland, valid health insurance, payment of the fee for issuing the new card. The status is not lost as long as the person has not been outside the EU for more than 12 consecutive months, or outside Poland for more than 6 years.
