After 5 years of czasowy
The most common path to permanent residence in Poland. Available to foreigners who have legally resided in Poland on the basis of zezwolenie na pobyt czasowy for at least 5 continuous years immediately before submitting the application. Submitted online through the MOS portal to the Voivodeship Office (Urząd Wojewódzki) of your place of residence. Main requirements: 5 years of continuous legal residence (interruptions up to 6 consecutive months and up to 10 months in total are permitted), stable and regular income, registered accommodation in Poland, and valid health insurance.
Polish ancestry / Karta Polaka
For descendants of Polish citizens — often the fastest route to permanent status. Available to foreigners with documented Polish ancestry or to holders of a valid Karta Polaka who intend to settle in Poland permanently. Submitted online through the MOS portal to the Voivodeship Office of your place of residence. Main requirements: confirmed Polish origin through at least one parent, grandparent, or two great-grandparents (birth certificates, archival documents) — or a valid Karta Polaka; declared intent to settle in Poland; registered Polish address. No minimum prior-residence period is required.
Marriage with Polish citizen
Permanent residence on the basis of marriage with a Polish citizen. Available after at least 3 years of marriage and 2 years of continuous legal residence in Poland on the basis of zezwolenie na pobyt czasowy. Submitted online through the MOS portal to the Voivodeship Office of your place of residence. Main requirements: a valid marriage certificate (apostilled and sworn-translated if issued abroad), evidence of genuine marital life (shared address, joint finances, family life), Polish citizenship of one spouse, continuous legal residence throughout the qualifying period, and registered accommodation in Poland.
Refugee / humanitarian basis
Permanent residence for persons granted refugee status or subsidiary protection in Poland. Available after at least 5 years of legal residence in Poland on the basis of international or subsidiary protection. Submitted online through the MOS portal to the Voivodeship Office of your place of residence. Main requirements: a valid decision granting refugee status or subsidiary protection from the Head of the Office for Foreigners (Szef Urzędu do Spraw Cudzoziemców), 5 years of continuous legal residence with this status, registered accommodation in Poland, and stable means of subsistence.
